Bouldin earns All-Region honors as top long jumper in the West

ORANGE, Calif. – Senior jumper Mitchell Bouldin ended his long jumping career as the top Division III long jumper in the West Region. Bouldin leaped into his second consecutive All-Region nod in the event.

Bouldin's record-breaking jump of 7.20 meters (23 feet, 7.5 inches) launched him to the top of the podium at the SCIAC Championship and landed SCIAC Field Athlete of the Year honors – both firsts for Chapman men's track & field. The Seattle, Wash. native was the first Panther to earn All-Region honors following the 2016 season.

After a two-year string of firsts, Bouldin appropriately was ranked first in the West in the long jump. His career-best leap was also the farthest leap in the West by over four inches. He was just inches away from another program first as he narrowly missed an invitation to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Bouldin finished the season ranked 23rd in all of Division III in the long jump. The top-20 earn invites to the national meet.

The ending to Bouldin's award-laden career had an even more poetic ending for head coach Anna Wlodarczyk. The Panthers' 24-year head coach, and Polish Olympian in the long jump, coached Bouldin into the Chapman history book and nearly into the national championships in her final meet before retirement.
