Track & field completes first SCIAC Multi-Dual

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Junior Cedric Cole led the Chapman University track & field teams in the first SCIAC Multi-Dual of the season. Cole had the highest finish of any Panther on the day.

The Panthers scored against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer in the first SCIAC meet of the year. The men's team fell 133-12 against CMS and 139-7 against Pomona-Pitzer. The women's team fell 157-4 to CMS and 120-22 to Pomona-Pitzer.

Cole's won the first flight of the discus competition with competitors from CMS, Pomona-Pitzer, Occidental and La Verne and took third overall with a toss of 36.86 meters (120-feet, 11-inches). He also took sixth in the shot put with a heave of 11.26 meters (36-feet, 11.5-inches).

On the women's side, junior Hannah Pickerill turned in the top finish of the day with a fifth place finish in the 400 meter run. She finished with a time of 1:05.74. Sophomore Lauren Miller also took seventh in both the shot put and the discus.

In the high jump, senior Gina Pasquinelli hopped into the top-10 when she cleared 1.45 meters (4-feet, 9-inches). Her teammates, Pickerill and freshman Gabi Siquenza cleared 1.4 meters (4-feet, 7-inches) to tie for 10th.

The men's 4x100m relay team took fifth and finished just one-tenth of a second off the fastest time Chapman's Division III history with a 43.72. Freshman Nick Callen led off the relay and handed off to sophomore Leithan Pulon. Sophomore Derek Ohara and freshman Nima Nakhjavani anchored the relay.

The Panthers are back in action next week when they head to Cal State Fullerton for the Ben Brown Invitational.
