Track & field sets 10 PRs at Redlands Invitational

REDLANDS, Calif. –The Chapman University track & field teams continued to show improvement with 10 personal-bests at the Redlands Invitational. Junior Gina Pasquinelli set two personal-bests in the field events and posted a 10th-place finish in the high jump.

In the high jump, Pasquinelli equaled her all-time best as she cleared the bar at 1.47 meters (4-feet, 9.75-inches) to take 10th overall in the competition. Fellow junior Hannah Pickerill took 12th in the event as she cleared 1.42 meters (4-feet, 7.75-inches) for a personal-best. Pasquinelli also set a new PR in the long jump with a leap of 4.87 meters (15-feet, 11.75-inches) to take 14th.

Freshman Emma Eglinton also set a pair of PRs on the track with a time of 2:41.34 in the 800 meter run and a 5:17.36 in the 3000 meter run. Fellow freshman Nick Callen sprinted to a pair of personal-bests, clocking in at 11.46 in the 100 meter dash and 23.41 in the 200 meter dash.

Freshman Gabi Siquenza bettered her personal-best by over one second in the 200 meter dash with a 27.59. Freshman Angela Vaynshteyn was one-and-a-half seconds faster than her previous personal-best in the 800 meter run.

Freshman Alex Alvertos set collegiate-bests in both the 100 and 200 meter dash while fellow freshman Elon Grobey sprinted to a new PR in the 200. Junior Jonah Soltes ran a 10:38.38 in the 3000 meter run to set a new PR by six seconds.

A few Panthers will head to the Aztec Track & Field Open on Friday before the team finishes up the schedule with two more SCIAC Multi-Duals and the SCIAC Championships.
