Jones sets two PRs at SCIAC #3

EAGLE ROCK, Calif. – The Chapman University men's and women's track and field teams competed in the third SCIAC meet of the 2018 season this past weekend at Occidental College. Sophomore Mallory Jones set two personal records in the effort.

Jones set her first PR in the 800-meter dash. The sophomore ran a 2:46.49 for her new personal-best. She also set a personal record in the 1500-meter run, finishing with a time of 5:39.63.

Junior Hannah Pickerill placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.87, followed by a new personal record in the high jump. She tied for fourth place with a leap of 1.50 meters (4 feet, 11 inches) for her new personal-best. Fellow junior Gina Pasquinelli also finished tied for fourth in the high jump with the same height of 1.50 meters, followed by a personal record in the long jump. The junior leaped a personal-best 5.04 meters (16 feet, 6.4 inches) to finish in fifth place overall.

Junior Nika Cokas placed fourth overall in the 5000-meter race with a final time of 20:11.19 and freshman Gabi Siguenza also placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing at a time of 1:10.14.

On the men's side, sophomore Derek Ohara set a new personal record in the 100-meter dash, finishing in fifth place overall with a time of 11.37. Freshman Nick Callen finished just over a second after Ohara in sixth place with a time of 11.49.

Junior Cedric Cole placed in the top-5 in both the shot put and the discus throw. He took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 11.42 meters (37 feet, 5.6 inches) and third in the discus throw with a toss of 39.17 meters (128 feet, 6.1 inches).

The Panthers head out to Redlands, Calif. on Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28 to compete in the SCIAC Championships.
