Bio

DeAndra'e Woods took over as Head Coach of the cross country and track & field programs prior to the 2017-18 school year, replacing longtime coach Anna Wlodarczyk. He brings experience as a track & field and strength coach at the Division I and Division II levels to his new role in leading the Panthers' programs.

In 2018-19, the Panthers saw unprecedented success in both the cross country and track seasons. The Panthers had their first female runner qualify for the Division III Cross Country National Championships. During the 2019 track season, both Panther squads had their highest championship point totals in Chapman's short history in the SCIAC. The men's 4x400m relay became the first Chapman relay team to make the podium with a second place finish.

The upward tren of both programs continued in 2019-20 as both cross country teams finished the 2019 season with the best finishes in the program's eight-year history in the SCIAC. Both track teams were well on their way to unprecedented success in 2020 with multiple broken records before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He has continued to empasize academic performance along with pushing the programs to new heights athletically. His teams are consistently recognized for have above a 3.0 team GPA with dozens of student-athletes earning individual recognition.Coach Woods watches a race.

After attending high school in San Diego, Calif., Woods was a sprinter at NCAA Division I Cal State Fullerton from 2008-12 and was a team captain from 2010-12. During this time, Woods also became involved with Cal State Fullerton's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

After exhausting his eligibility, Woods began volunteering, and later interning, with the strength & conditioning coaches at Cal State Fullerton. From 2012-15, he worked with the Titans' perennially nationally-ranked baseball team on a speed, agility and conditioning program.

In 2015, Woods was hired at Concordia University Irvine as a Graduate Assistant. At CUI, he worked primarily with sprinters and relays while also assisting with hurdlers and jumpers. He coached the Eagles' 4x100m relay team to a PacWest championship in 2016 and saw his athletes break school records in the 60-meter dash (indoor), 4x400m relay (indoor), 4x100m relay (outdoor) and 4x400m relay (outdoor).

While at CUI, Woods earned coaching certificates from the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as a Sprint/Hurdles/Relay Specialist and a Jumps Specialist. He also is certified as a USA Track & Field Level 1 Coach, a certified USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach with knowledge in Olympic lifts and recently became a USTFCCCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach.

In addition to his work in college athletics, Woods has worked as the Director of Sports Performance at the Office Sports Academy and taught sports medicine at El Rancho High School.

He graduated in 2013 from Cal State Fullerton with a Bachelor's of Science in kinesiology and earned his Master's of Arts in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia in 2017.
