Women's basketball hosts NCAA playoffs beginning Friday at 7 p.m. against Louisiana College

ORANGE, Calif. – After a one year absence, the Chapman University women's basketball team is heading back to the NCAA Division III Championships. The NCAA announced today that Chapman will play Louisiana College in a first round matchup on Friday night at 7 p.m. in the Hutton Sports Center. Occidental College and George Fox University face off at 5 p.m. in the other first round game hosted by Chapman. Tickets for the games are $6 for adults and $3 for students with Chapman I.D. as well as for children who are under 12.

Chapman (22-5) won nine of 10 games to close out the regular season including a pair of wins over the weekend to capture the Division III Independents West Region championship. The Panthers last made the playoffs in 2009 when they defeated Occidental 70-65 at home before losing to George Fox in the second round. This is Chapman's tenth NCAA postseason appearance in the last 11 years and seventh under head coach Carol Jue.

While Chapman has faced both Occidental and George Fox on numerous occasions, this is the Panthers first time playing Louisiana College (23-3). The Wildcats, No. 17 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll, received a Pool C At-Large bid to the postseason after losing in the American Southwest Conference tournament championship game 83-69 to Howard Payne University.

The winner of Friday night's game will face either George Fox or Occidental on Saturday at 7 p.m.
