Tigers hand Panthers third straight loss

ORANGE, Calif. –The Chapman University women's basketball team lost its third consecutive game 64-60 to Trinity University at the Hutton Sports Center on Friday.

After Trinity jumped out to a 14-8 lead with 11:32 remaining in the first half, the Panthers went on a 9-2 run to take their first lead of the game with 10:29 left in the first half on a 3-pointer by sophomore G Lauren Sato to make the score 17-16 Chapman. The Tigers would then go on a 12-9 run to close out the half and take a 28-26 lead into the locker room.

The Tigers opened the first five minutes of the second half on a 9-2 run bringing their lead to 37-30. With 2:04 remaining senior G Nicole Moy made a seven-foot jumper to tighten the score 60-54. However the Panthers late six-point rally was not enough to recover the deficit. Moy finished the game with 10 points, three rebounds and one assists.

The Tiger offense was led by Anecia Richardson who had a game-high of 21 points, two assists and seven rebounds while teammate Monica Holguin recorded three three-pointers.  

The Panthers were once again led by senior G Andrea Villanueva who recorded 14 points, while senior C Ivory Hallstein had a game-high of 18 rebounds. Hallstein is averaging a team high of 6.7 rebounds this season.

The Panthers will travel to Northern California next weekend to play UC Santa Cruz then they will return home to play their next three games in the Hutton Sports Center beginning with Coe College at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5.
