Chapman basketball sweeps SCIAC weekly awards

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman basketball teams leapt into the new year with a sweep of the SCIAC's Athlete of the Week honors. Freshman Cam Haslam won his second Male Athlete of the Week award of the season while senior Natalia Ebrahimian brought in her first.

Haslam is averaging 19 points per game over the first nine games of his young career. The freshman guard scored had four 20-point games in the five played over the winter break, including a 25-point effort in the Panthers SCIAC-opening win over Whittier. He also had eight rebounds and five assists against Whittier to lead Chapman to the 95-76 win.

Ebrahimian also lit up the scoreboard over the break, scoring in double figures in five of Chapman's six games. She posted two double-doubles in late December with 17 points and 12 rebounds at UC Santa Cruz to go along with a monster performance of 24 points and 13 rebounds against Whittier. The senior forward led the Panthers to the comeback 92-85 win over Whittier, which was their fourth win in a row and fifth of the last six games.

Both basketball teams head deeper into their respective SCIAC schedules this week as both host Pomona-Pitzer in midweek games. The women's team tips off at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday while the men's team takes on the Sagehens on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
