Hum-Nishikado honored as SCIAC athlete of the week

Sophomore guard Jaime Hum-Nishikado was named Female SCIAC Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career after dominating  from the three-point line. On Tuesday, the sophomore drained 23 points off the bench in a win over Pomona-Pitzer for the Panthers fifth win in a row. She shot 5-for-8 from the floor and drained three of her six three-pointers to score 13 points in the second quarter.

The weekly honor is the second in a row for the women's basketball team, following senior Natalia Ebrahimian's nod last week.

Hum-Nishikado has knocked down at least one triple in every game she has played in this season. The guard has scored in double digits in eight consecutive games, with the Panthers going 7-1 over that span.

The sophomore currently leads the conference with 23.7 points per 40 minutes and ranks third in the SCIAC shooting 39.3 percent from beyond the arc.

On Tuesday, Hum-Nishikado scored 15 points, sinking four three pointers in a 67-47 victory over La Verne for the Panthers sixth consecutive win.
