Hum-Nishikado scores 1,000th point in win over Caltech

ORANGE, Calif. – Senior Jaime Hum-Nishikado scored her 1,000th career point in the Chapman University women's basketball team's 80-62 win over Caltech. Hum-Nishikado scored 12 points in the win to join the elite club of Panther women's basketball players.

Since joining the ranks of the NCAA Division III, just seven players have surpassed the 1,000-point benchmark. Hum-Nishikado becomes the eighth student-athlete to join the elite club and the first since Andrea Villanueva in 2015.

Hum-Nishikado is already the career leader for three-pointers made at Chapman University and had made the fourth-most of any active NCAA Division III women's basketball players at 242.

She is averaging 14 points per game this year to lead the Panthers in scoring and is on pace for the highest scoring season of her career.

The Panthers ran their winning streak to 10 games with the win over Caltech and remained perfect in SCIAC play. Chapman returns to the Hutton Sports Center on Wednesday at 7 p.m. to take on Redlands.
