Criswell earns All-West Region distinction

ORANGE, Calif. – After a breakout season, sophomore Lucy Criswell has been selected to the D3hoops.com All-West Region First Team. The selection comes after she won SCIAC Athlete of the Year and helped lead the Panthers to their first conference tournament championship and 13th NCAA Tournament appearance.

Criswell led Chapman and ranked fifth in the SCIAC with 15.1 points per game. The Portland, Ore. native led the SCIAC in three-point percentage, shooting 42.8 percent from beyond the arc and ranking 19th in the nation in the category. Criswell made history at Chapman, breaking the school record for blocks in a single season with 34 blocks. The sophomore also dished out 42 assists while recording 39 steals on the year.

After coming off the bench for the first 11 games of the season, Criswell changed her role to become a starting player on the wing. She appeared in every game this season and tallied at least 10 points in 22 of the Panthers' 28 games, scoring a career-high 31 points in the SCIAC Tournament semifinal against Cal Lutheran. Criswell becomes just the fourth Panther to be named to the D3hoops.com All-West Region First Team since Chapman joined the ranks of the NCAA Division III in 1994. Kimi Takaoka was the last Panther to take home the distinction in the 2013-14 season.
