Panthers compete in program's first ever competition

HEMET, Calif. – The Chapman University women's golf team finished eighth overall in the program's first ever collegiate competition at the CA State Intercollegiate at Diamond Valley Golf Club. The Panthers carded a 747 (+171) overall in the Panthers NCAA Division III debut after facing difficult weather conditions.

Sophomore Emily Lewis was the out medalist for Chapman, earning a spot in the top-25. The sophomore carded an 83 (+11) on day one and improved to 82 (+10) on day two despite windy and rainy conditions.

Finishing in the top-40, junior Brittany Bilek carded an overall score of 176 (+32) to finish tied for 37th. In Bilek's collegiate debut she scored a low round of 87 (+15) on day one of the tournament.

Freshman Haylie Bantle notched a final score of 185 (+41) to earn 40th overall. Freshman Alison Lee and junior Tessa King also competed for the Panthers in their first collegiate debut to help the Panthers defeat UC Santa Cruz who carded a 785 (+209).

The Panthers will return to the green for a tri-match with Occidental and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at Upland Country Club on Sunday, Oct. 2.
