Women's golf wraps up fall season at CMS Invite

CHINO HILLS, Calif. – The Chapman University women's golf team finished fourth overall at the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Invite this weekend. The Panthers improved in day two, shooting a team total 675 (+99).

Sophomore Emily Lewis and freshman Kristy Harada tied for 10th place overall, shooting 159 (+15). The pair improved on day two of the tournament, with Lewis shooting a 78 (+6) on day two after shooting 81 (+9) on day one. Harada fired a 79 (+7) on day two after shooting 80 (+8) on the first.

Junior Brittany Bilek also improved after day one of the tournament, coming in 19th overall. Bilek two-day score was 172 (+28), shooting an 83 (+11) on day two after shooting an 89 (+17) on day one. Freshman Haylie Bantle shot a 185 (+41) for the tournament, coming in 23rd and rounding out the Panthers scoring.

As a team, the Panthers shaved off nine strokes from a 342 (+54) team score on day one to a 333 on day two (+45).

Last week, Chapman had its best round yet with a team score of 341 in a one round match against CMS and Occidental. Harada's 79 led the squad to a second place finish as they defeated Occidental but trailed CMS.

The Panthers wrapped up the fall portion of its inaugural season with the CMS Invite and will get back on the course in the spring for its first-ever championship season.
