Lewis opens 2018-19 season with seventh place finish

VENTURA, Calif. – The Chapman University women's golf team opened up their Fall 2018 season at the California State Intercollegiate Tournament that featured 12 different teams. The Panthers took ninth place with a team score of 634 (+58) over the two-round tournament.

Senior Emily Lewis led the pack, finishing tied for seventh place with two other competitors after shooting a 149 (+5). Sophomore Lauren Settle shot a 75 (+3) in the first round and a 78 (+6) in her second round to finish 11th overall.

Freshman Kristen Lee finished next tied for 45th after posting a score of 164 (+20). Seniors Malia Valder and Marisa Bhanubandh finished neck-in-neck to round out the Panthers. Valder shot an 85 (+13) in both rounds to tally a final score of 170 (+26). Bhanubandh shot an 88 (+16) in the first round but improved in the second round, shooting an 83 (+11) to finish one stroke back from her teammate at 171 (+27).

Chapman takes a couple of weeks off then heads to Tustin Ranch to host its first home dual match of the 2018-19 season against Hope International on Wednesday, Oct. 3.
