Women's golf sees program first at Bulldog Classic

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Senior Emily Lewis became the first Chapman women's golfer to finish a round under par to lead the Chapman University women's golf team at the Bulldog Classic. Lewis was one-under par in her first round and finished the tournament in a tie for seventh place individually. As a team, the Panthers took fifth of 12 teams at the two-round tournament, finishing 27-over par with a 623.

Lewis established the school record as a member of the inaugural team in 2016-17 but shaved a stroke off her school record with a one-under 71 to open the Bulldog Classic at The S at Rancho Mirage. She sat in second place by one stroke after the first round but shot an eight-over 80 in the second round to fall to seventh.

Freshman Lauren Settle moved up four spots from day one to day after shooting a 76 (+4) to follow her opening 78 (+6). She was 10-over for the tournament to finish in a tie for 14th. Freshman Kristen Lee was 13-over par with a 157 to take 22nd.

Senior Marisa Bhanubandh and freshman Sydnee Dimascio shot identical scores in both rounds to finish 17-over par in 28th.

The Panthers head to SCIAC #2 on April 6-7 before the SCIAC Championships on April 18-20 to finish off the regular season.
