Lewis in top-10, women's golf takes fourth at SCIAC Championships

PASADENA, Calif. – Senior Emily Lewis finished in the top-10 and the Chapman University women's golf team finished fourth at the SCIAC Championships. Lewis was consistent through three rounds of the tournament to tie for seventh.

The Panthers shaved 10 strokes off their team score from yesterday but weren't able to climb back into the top-3. With the fourth place finish, the Panthers jumped Cal Lutheran in the season standings to claim a spot in the top half of the conference for the second consecutive year.

Chapman carded a 322 (+34) as a team to finish the tournament with a 973 (+109). Whittier had a strong third round but the Panthers were able to hold on to fourth by a stroke over the Poets.

Lewis matched her score from yesterday with a six-over 78 to finish the championship tournament. She was 17-over par for the tournament with a 233. Sophomore Lauren Settle was eight-over par with an 80. She birdied three times in the third round but fell to 21st on the leaderboard after a tough 18th hole to finish the tournament.

Senior Marisa Bhanubandh continued her improvement in her final tournament with an eight-over 80 in her final round. She rose to 25th on the leaderboard and tied teammate Kristen Lee with a 250 (+34). Lee was six strokes better than yesterday with an 83 (+11).

Freshman Sydnee Dimascio and sophomore Brooke Leet finished the tournament in 38th and 40th, respectively.

The Panthers conclude the third season in program history with another strong finish. They have finished in the top half of the conference in two of the three seasons.
