Women's golf wins fall finale, Lee is medalist

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's golf team wrapped up its fall season with a first-place finish in the Chapman Quad match over the weekend. Senior Kristen Lee blew away the competition to take medalist honors.

Lee finished nine strokes better than the second-place finisher and was just 5-over par with a 147 for the two-round tournament at Anaheim Hills Golf Course. On Saturday, Lee finished one-over par with a 72 to take a five stroke lead after the first round. She had the low round again on Sunday with a four-over 75.

Freshman Rachel Truong took second place, shooting a 156 (+14) for the Panthers. She was tied for second after the first round with a 77 (+6) and held on to second with a 79 (+8) on Sunday. Sophomore Kaila Higgins was two strokes behind Truong with a 158 (+16). Freshman Shanna Schuckman finished 20-over with a 162 to take seventh while freshman Emily Cho's 166 (+24) made her the fifth Panther to place in the top-10 on the individual leaderboard.

As a team, the Panthers turned in the low round each day and won the tournament by 30 strokes over Occidental, Whittier and La Verne.

The Panthers wrapped up their fall season with the win and will return for the championship season in the spring of 2022.
