WLAX trio named to IWLCA All-West Region Team

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's lacrosse team capped off its first season in Division III play with three of its members named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Regional team. Freshman midfielder Kelsey Mackin and junior attack Victoria Wilkinson earned first team honors, with junior midfielder Lauren Mah earning a spot on the second team.

Mackin and Wilkinson fueled the Panthers' SCIAC-leading offense with a combined 102 goals on the season. The squad averaged more than 15 goals per game and ended the season with a second place finish in its first-ever SCIAC postseason tournament.

In her first collegiate season, Mackin finished as the Panthers leading scorer with 53 goals despite starting just six games. The midfielder scored 18 goals in her final six games, but posted a career-best seven goals in a game against Puget Sound on March 18.

Despite having her season cut short due to injury, Wilkinson posted an impressive 49 goals in just 13 games. The junior scored multiple goals in each game she played in, including a season high seven goals against Colorado College on May 9.

Mah, who has been a center piece of the Chapman offense since her freshman season in 2011, collected 20 points, scoring 15 goals while adding five assists. The midfielder was at her best against Whittier on Feb. 20, when she scored three times in the Panthers' 18-8 conference win.

The trio was among 256 athletes who were named to one of the nine regional teams by the IWLCA. Their selection makes them eligible for inclusion on the All-American teams, which will be announced on May 9.
