Chapman University senior Kara Podesta from the Panthers women’s lacrosse program received Academic Honor Roll from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) for the 2013-14 academic year, as announced by the organization Tuesday.

Chapman University student-athletes were well-represented during the 2013-14 academic year as the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference named its All-Academic teams by sport. Leading the way for the Panthers was women’s soccer, which garnered a conference-best 14 honorees.

Chapman University celebrated another banner year in athletics with its annual Jog-a-thon and Sports Appreciation Day at Wilson Field on Friday afternoon. Besides celebrating the school’s first-ever SCIAC championship (women’s basketball) and another SCIAC Tournament title (men’s basketball), the Panthers recognized four seniors with the Department of Athletics annual awards.

Three Chapman University women’s lacrosse players have been selected to the All-SCIAC team for the 2014 season as voted on by the conference coaches. Sophomore M Brooke Martini was named to the First Team, while seniors Catherine LaPlant and Allie Kontny earned Second Team honors.

A second-half comeback attempt for the Chapman University women’s lacrosse team fell short and the Panthers were eliminated from the SCIAC Championships with a 10-6 loss in the tournament semifinals to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday at the South Athletic Complex.

The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team finished the regular season on a high note, defeating visiting Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges 13-4 at Wilson Field on Saturday night. With the win, the Panthers clinched home-field advantage in the first round of the SCIAC Championships, which begin on Wednesday.

The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team began the second half of the SCIAC schedule on the right foot, defeating visiting Whittier College 10-6 at Wilson Field on Saturday night. The Panthers’ defense equaled a season-low by allowing just six goals en route to their third win in five games.

A stubborn second-half defense by visiting Colorado College held the Chapman University women’s lacrosse team in check and held on to defeat the host Panthers 14-12 in a non-conference matchup at Wilson Field on Saturday afternoon.

Panthers get offensive late to beat Pacific 18-7

An offensive onslaught by the Chapman University women’s lacrosse team in the second half, gave the Panthers a convincing 18-7 win over visiting Pacific University (Ore.) on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field. Chapman scored 12 goals after the intermission, including finishing the game on a 7-1 run, and has now won two of its last three overall.

The Chapman University women's lacrosse got its first home victory of the season, defeating visiting Albion College 23-14 at Wilson Field on Friday night. The Panthers snapped a four-game losing streak with 23 goals marking Chapman’s highest scoring total of the season.

Oneonta State tops Chapman 21-12 in a slugfest

The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team dropped its third straight game, this time to Oneonta State (N.Y.) 21-12 at Wilson Field on Saturday in its first non-conference matchup of the season. The 33-goal slugfest marks a season high in combined goals for a single Chapman game.

Sagehens keep Chapman winless at home

The upstart Pomona-Pitzer Colleges women’s lacrosse team handed host Chapman University its second straight loss at home to begin the season, downing the Panthers 11-8 at Wilson Field on Wednesday night in a SCIAC contest. The Sagehens limited Chapman to just one first-half goal and held on in the second half for the win.
