Women's lacrosse gets first home victory over Albion

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's lacrosse got its first home victory of the season, defeating visiting Albion College 23-14 at Wilson Field on Friday night. The Panthers snapped a four-game losing streak with 23 goals marking Chapman's highest scoring total of the season.

Chapman (2-5, 1-4 SCIAC) jumped out to an early 4-1 lead at 21:48 in the game. Albion (0-3) mounted a comeback, led by sisters junior M Ashley Glenn and freshman M Alyssa Glenn, to bring the score within one, 11-10 at the half. The Glenn sisters each scored five first-half goals, accounting for all of Albion's 10 goals before the break. Chapman sophomore M Allison Camp and freshman M Gretchen Rodenberger led the way for the Panthers in the first half with three goals apiece.

Albion scored two quick goals to start the second half, taking the lead 12-11. However, Chapman bounced back by scoring six straight goals to give the Panthers an insurmountable 17-12 lead. Chapman outscored Albion 12-2 over the last 26 minutes of the game.

For Chapman, senior M Lauren Mah led the team with five goals. Rodenberger and sophomore A/M Kylee Moore scored four goals and added two assists each. Senior A Allie Kontny led the team with six assists along with her two goals on the game.

It was all the Glenn sisters for Albion. Alyssa Glenn finished with seven goals and Ashley Glenn finished with five.

The Chapman women's lacrosse team returns to action at Wilson Field on Wednesday against Allegheny College (PA) in a 12 p.m. matinee, the first of three non-conference games before returning to SCIAC play.
