Four Panthers with three goals each in victory over Kean

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's lacrosse team earned its third consecutive victory on Wednesday afternoon in a 15-7 win over Kean University (N.J.) at Wilson Field with four Panthers scoring three goals respectively.

Chapman jumped on the board early going on a 4-0 run seven minutes into the game to take the lead 4-0. The Cougars battled back to tighten the score 5-4 with six minutes left in the first half. However, back-to-back goals by freshman Becka Wachtel put Chapman up 8-5 at the end of the first.

The Cougars came into the second half strong scoring two goals within the first five minutes, but back-to-back goals by junior Brooke Martini allowed the Panthers to keep their lead 11-7 at the 16:58 minute mark. Chapman then finished the game on another 4-0 run to defeat Kean 15-7.

Sophomore Gretchen Rodenberger led the Panther offense with three goals, three assists and three won draw controls. While junior Kylee Moore, Wachtel and Martini also scored three goals each for the Panthers.

The Panther defense was led by sophomore GK Tara Sonnemaker who finished the game with ten saves while allowing just seven goals.

Chapman will return to SCIAC play on Saturday, April 4 to host University of Redlands at 7 p.m. on Wilson Field. The Panthers will then host Whittier College on Wednesday, April 8 with the match set to start at 7 p.m.
