Panthers cruz to 14-2 win over Cardinals

ORANGE, Calif. – Freshman Danielle Zahn and junior Tessa Oliaro led the Chapman University women's lacrosse team to a 14-2 victory on Thursday afternoon on Wilson Field.

Otterbein scored its first and only goal of the first half three minutes into the first half to take an early 1-0 lead. However, the Panthers would score eight uncontested goals through the rest of the half to take the lead 8-1.

Olario, senior Kelsey Mackin, and junior Gretchen Rodenberger each netted a pair of goals in the first half for the Panthers. Mackin also recorded three ground balls and caused three turnovers for Chapman.

In the second half, the Panther offense was hot again going on a 6-1 run to earn the 14-2 victory. Zahn scored three of her four goals in the second half, including a pair of back-to-back goals assisted by sophomore Becka Wachtel.

Junior Katy Williams scored both goals for the Cardinals, while senior Annie Kelly won an impressive nine draw controls for Otterbein.

Chapman out-shot Otterbein 25-6 in 60 minutes of play and was nearly perfect on clear attempts (13-for-15).

Chapman will host Drew on Tuesday, March 8 at 11 a.m. on Wilson Field.
