Women's lacrosse falls in regular season home finale

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's lacrosse team dropped its regular season home finale 20-1 to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. With the loss, the Athenas clinched the top seed in the SCIAC Tournament and the Panthers clinched the No. 2 seed.

CMS quickly took control of the match as the Panthers did not find the back of the net in the first half. Junior Becka Wachtel put the Panthers on the board with 5:44 left in the match when she batted in a pass from senior Tessa Oliaro.

The Athenas used 13 draw controls and 15 caused turnovers to build the big 19-0 lead before Wachtel's goal. Zoe Pinczower scored five goals to lead the way, including the first two of the match.

The Panthers caused 10 turnovers and had 10 draw controls.

Chapman will finish out the regular season at Whittier on Saturday but will return home to host the SCIAC semifinals on April 29 on Wilson Field. The Panthers will host the No. 3 seed in the tournament, which has yet to be determined.
