Wachtel, Mackin, Watts selected to IWLCA All-Region team

ORANGE, Calif. – Junior Becka Wachtel highlighted three selections from the Chapman University women's lacrosse team to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-West Region team. Wachtel earned First Team honors with seniors Kelsey Mackin and Dillan Watts joining her on the Second Team.

Wachtel notched her first career All-Region honors with her First Team selection. She was an All-SCIAC First Team selection after a breakout 2017 season. Wachtel put up career-high numbers this year with 46 goals, 12 assists, 42 ground balls and 30 draw controls. The midfielder from Lake Oswego, Ore., led the Panthers in goals scored and made 62.2 percent of the shots she took this year – the best mark in the SCIAC amongst anyone taking over five shots this year. She scored a career-best six goals on two different occasions on February 26 against Occidental and April 22 at Whittier.

Mackin closed her career with her second All-Region honor. She was also an All-Region selection as a freshman in 2013. He midfielder from Bainbridge Island, Wash., scored 39 goals in just 15 matches and graduate as Chapman's all-time leading scorer with 127 goals. She also dished out a career-best 20 assists this year for a team-leading 59 points. She also holds Chapman's all-time points record with 163 points. She picked up 46 ground balls and 30 draw controls while causing 20 turnovers.

Watts earned All-Region honors from the IWLCA for the second year. The two-time All-SCIAC defender from Los Angeles, Calif. caused 26 turnovers and picked up 33 ground balls this year. She also won eight draw controls. She will graduated as the Panther's all-time leader with 88 caused turnovers and second all-time with 112 ground balls.

The Panthers made the SCIAC Tournament championship match for the second year in a row and the tird time in the program's five-year history this year. Chapman ended the season 11-7 and took second in the SCIAC.
