Women’s lacrosse falls to Pomona-Pitzer

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman women's lacrosse team fell 18-7 to Pomona-Pitzer (4-0) in their home game on Saturday.

Pomona-Pitzer started the game with a three-goal run, which they continued to build upon through the first half, resulting in a 9-3 deficit for Chapman going into the second half.

Chapman's three goals in the first half were scored by junior Alexandra Callaway, freshman Meg Hanson, and junior Leah Donnelly. In the second half, Donnelly and Hanson both scored once more, accompanied by goals from juniors Lucy Schwartz and Michaela Lopez.

Pomona-Pitzer went on to score nine more goals in the second half, despite seven saves by goalie Preetha Raj. Chapman fought to close the gap, scoring three goals in the last fifteen minutes of the match.

The Panthers had 25 groundballs in the game, while the Sagehens had 33. Both Schwartz and Donnelly each picked out four groundballs during the game. The caused turnovers between the Panthers and Sagehens were nearly equal, at 14 and 15 respectively. Senior Shelby Thompson led the way with three caused turnovers in the match.

On Mar. 5 the Panthers will play at home again, facing off against Elizabethtown college at 1:00 PM.
