Thompson earns SCIAC award for second consecutive week

ORANGE, Calif. – Senior Shelby Thompson broke a school record this past week and helped the Panthers beat Whittier to earn SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week.

The captain picked up nine ground balls on her senior day this past Saturday, setting the single-game Chapman record for ground balls. She also forced five turnovers as the Panthers fell 20-12 to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

On Wednesday evening, Thompson and the rest of the Chapman defense held Whittier to just eight goals as the Panthers took a 19-8 victory. The San Clemente native picked up four ground balls and caused two turnovers in the winning effort.

Thompson and the rest of the squad head out on the road for their final two matches of the regular season.
