First meeting, first win for Panthers over Soka
ORANGE, Calif. - In its first-ever meeting with Soka University of America, the Chapman University women's soccer team had five different players score and out-shot the Lions 32-2 on its way to a 5-0 victory on Friday afternoon at Wilson Field.
With just under three minutes gone by in the first half, senior F Stephanie Lambrakis scored off an assist by senior M Megan Tharp to give Chapman (9-3) a 1-0 lead. The Panthers then added goals by sophomore M Kate Lilly and Megan Tharp to push the lead to 3-0 at halftime. For Tharp, the goal marked her first of the season.
Chapman capped off its scoring with second half goals by freshman M Aimee Evans and sophomore D Rosie Chinen.
For Soka (2-5), both of its shots on the night came from sophomore F Jessica Lee.
Sophomore GK Chloe Canta and freshman GK Rissa Henderson combined for the Chapman shutout, the Panthers' sixth of the season.
The 30-shot margin that Chapman had over Soka on Friday is the largest amount that Chapman has out-shot an opponent since 2007 when the Panthers had a 27-1 advantage over Whittier College.
