Lambrakis, Lilly named to All-West Region team

In 2007, the Chapman University womens soccer team had one player named to the NSCAA Womens NCAA Division III All-West Region team. This year they have two, as senior F Stephanie Lambrakis and sophomore F Kate Lilly have been named to the 2009 All-West Region second and third teams, respectively.

Coming off its best season since 2006, seven Chapman University womens soccer players have been named to the Association of Division III Independents All-Independent Womens Soccer Teams, with three players garnering first-team honors.
Women's soccer trio earns Academic All-District honors

Three Chapman University womens soccer players have been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VIII team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Sophomore F Kate Lilly, junior D Nicole Santo and senior F Stephanie Lambrakis each were honored. The Panthers have never had as many as three players named to the Academic All-District team in the programs history.

The pregame tribute to five Chapman University womens soccer seniors lasted about five minutes. The positive vibes from those festivities lasted only slightly longer. Visiting U.C. Santa Cruz spoiled Chapmans Senior Day, scoring its first goal just 3:19 into the match and defeating the Panthers 5-1 at Wilson Field on Sunday afternoon.
First 10 minutes doom Panthers against San Marcos

A fast start from the visitors provided all the difference on Wednesday night. Cal State San Marcos scored two goals in the first 10 minutes and held on to defeat the host Chapman University womens soccer team 2-1 at Wilson Field. The loss was the Panthers second in a row and third in their past four games all coming at home.

Once again, the Chapman University womens soccer team out-shot its opponent and lost. The Panthers finished the match with a 16-6 shots advantage but fired nothing but blanks, getting shutout for the fourth time this season 1-0 to visiting Cal Lutheran University at Wilson Field on Monday night.

Perhaps still feeling the sting from a tough loss to La Verne two days earlier, it didnt take long for the Chapman University womens soccer team to get off the mat. Senior F Claire Callister scored a goal just 34 seconds into the contest and the Panthers never looked back, defeating visiting La Sierra University 3-0 at Wilson Field on Friday afternoon.

Despite out-shooting its opponents 25-6 in the game, the Chapman University womens soccer team was turned away time and time again, falling to visiting University of La Verne 2-1 at Wilson Field on Wednesday night. After opening the season with a school record six consecutive victories, the Chapman University womens soccer team has experienced a series of firsts. Its first loss, its first home loss and on Friday night, the Panthers suffered their first loss to a Division III opponent. Visiting Augustana College (Ill.) defeated Chapman 2-0 at Wilson Field, snapping a nine-game unbeaten streak for the Panthers within their division.

The Chapman University womens soccer team is happy to be done with that part of its schedule. Following a six-game winning streak to open the season, the Panthers ran into a pair of brick walls in the past week. The second of which came in the form of visiting Westmont College, which defeated Chapman 3-0 at Wilson Field on Wednesday evening. It was the Panthers second straight 3-0 loss at the hands of an NAIA opponent.

The Chapman University womens soccer team won its fifth consecutive match to open the season, scoring the tying goal late in regulation and then defeating visiting Willamette University 2-1 in overtime on Sunday afternoon at Wilson Field. The game winning goal was scored an own goal, off the foot of a Bearcats defender just 3:52 into the first overtime period.

Chapman freshman Aimee Evans wasted no time scoring her first career goal. The rookie forward entered the game as a substitute in the 34th minute and less than two minutes later she gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead en route to a 2-0 victory over visiting Pacific Lutheran University (Wash.) on Saturday at Wilson Field.
