Whittier, warm weather not enough to stop women's soccer in 4-0 win
ORANGE, Calif. – A pair of early first half goals by sophomore F Aimee Evans propelled the Chapman University women's soccer team to a 4-0 win over Whittier College on a sweltering Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field. Chapman has now won 20 matches in a row against Whittier since moving to NCAA Division III in 1994,
Evans scored both of her goals within the first 15 minutes of
the game. Her first goal came off a direct kick from the left wing
in the 9th minute. She followed it up with a breakaway
goal from the right wing to give Chapman (5-3) a 2-0 lead which
they held at halftime. Evans who has a team-high five goals had her
second two-goal game of the young season.
In the second half, Whittier (3-3-1) gave up two more goals as Chapman senior F Alicia Fraticelli and freshman M Val Sobol added their first and fourth goals of the season, respectively. Chapman had 28 shots in the game while holding Whittier to five shots, and only one in the second half.
The duo of junior G Chloe Canta and sophomore G Rissa Anderson kept Whittier scoreless, each having one save.
For Whittier, junior G Megan Wessel had nine saves.
