Regular season ends with 4-2 win over La Verne

LA VERNE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's soccer team extended its winning streak to four games with a 4-2 win over the University of La Verne in the regular-season finale on Wednesday afternoon at La Verne, led by junior F Kate Lilly's two goals.

Tied 2-2 in the second half, Chapman (12-6) freshman M Emma Zysett scored the go-ahead goal off an assist from fellow freshman F Val Sobol in the 65th minute. Less than a minute later, Lilly gave the Panthers some breathing room with her fourth goal of the season.

In the first half, Chapman did not wait long to get its first goal as sophomore M Aimee Evans scored on a breakaway in the third minute. Evans now has a team-high 12 goals. La Verne (2-13-1) answered in the 12th minute with a goal from freshman F Olga Saldivar. In the 36th minute, Lilly put Chapman back on top with her first goal of the game off an assist by sophomore M Karina Cisneros, her fourth assist of the season.

In the second half La Verne tied the game 2-2 on a goal by freshman F Nancy Rodriguez before Chapman closed out the game with the final two scores.
