D3 Week Student-Athlete Profile: Celina Solomon, Soccer

To be a center-midfielder in soccer you have to have a keen sense of field awareness, with eyes at the top of the field as well as in the back of your head. Makes sense that Celina is the multi-tasker she is on and off the field, and this semester she’s doing it in a foreign land – studying abroad in South Africa.

Fall athletes recognized on SCIAC All-Academic teams

Chapman University student-athletes were well-represented as the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference named its All-Academic teams by sport for the fall season. Leading the way for the Panthers was football, which garnered 15 honorees. In all, there were 49 Panthers recognized which ranked third among the nine SCIAC institutions.

Fedden, Kleinow named to NSCAA All-West Region

Chapman University women's soccer players Kristin Kleinow and Haley Fedden have been named to the 2014 Division III All-West Region second team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America last week.

Three Panthers named to All-SCIAC Women's Soccer team

A trio of Chapman University women's soccer players were named to the 2014 SCIAC All-Conference Women's Soccer Team Wednesday as selected by the coaches. Sophomore GK Kristin Kleinow headlined the Panthers’ All-Conference class, earning first team selection, meanwhile junior M Haley Fedden and senior F Rebeccah Bortz earned second team honors.

Sagehens spoil Panthers' 'Senior Night'

The Chapman University women’s soccer team lost 3-0 to Pomona-Pitzer on Senior Night on Saturday at Wilson Field. The Panthers fell to 7-8-2 overall and 3-7-2 in SCIAC with Saturday’s loss while the third-place Sagehens improved to 8-6-4 overall land 6-2-4 in conference.

Panthers tie Tigers 1-1 in double overtime

The Chapman University women’s soccer team found themselves in familiar territory on Wednesday night when they headed into double overtime with Occidental College. The Panthers played the Tigers to a 1-1 draw in their second consecutive double overtime match that ended in a tie.

The Chapman University women’s soccer team snapped their three-game losing streak on Saturday in a double overtime draw with the University of Redlands in a 1-1 match at Wilson Field.

Panthers fall to Regals for third straight loss

The Chapman University women’s soccer team lost a tough battle on Wednesday, falling 2-1 to the Cal Lutheran Regals at Wilson Field. The match was the Panthers second loss of the season at home, but third loss in a row after falling to SCIAC rivals Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer.

The Chapman University women’s soccer team lost 3-1 to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday at Wilson Field. The Panthers are now 2-4 in SCIAC and 6-5 overall.

Women's soccer earns first conference win against Poets

After a pair of losses from SCIAC rivals Redlands and Occidental, the Panthers finally earned their first conference win in a 4-0 shutout against Whittier College Wednesday afternoon at Wilson Field. The Panthers came out on a mission, scoring two goals less than 10 minutes into the first half.

The Chapman University women’s soccer team has made its case for national recognition loud and clear through the first week and a half of the 2014 season. Two nationally-ranked top-25 teams up, and two down as the unranked Panthers earned their second upset victory of the season 2-1 over No. 12 Hardin-Simmons University in Chapman’s home opener at Wilson Field on Sunday.

The Chapman University women’s soccer team kicked off its season with three straight wins in Portland, Ore. this past weekend. The Panthers’ first win made a statement, as they defeated No. 14 in the nation Puget Sound (Wash.) 2-1 on Friday night.
