Women's soccer earns first conference win against Poets

ORANGE, Calif. – After a pair of losses from SCIAC rivals Redlands and Occidental, the Panthers finally earned their first conference win in a 4-0 shutout against Whittier College Wednesday afternoon at Wilson Field. The Panthers came out on a mission, scoring two goals less than 10 minutes into the first half.

Senior M Olivia Do was the first to score off of a clear attempt from the Poets' defense 4:20 into the game, scoring her third goal of the season. Do added an additional assist to her career by executing a clean pass across the middle to sophomore M Julia Diaz 16 minutes into the second half to make the score 3-0.

A corner kick by junior M Haley Fedden allowed the Panthers to extend their lead to 4-0 when sophomore F Rosie Kerstetter fired one in off an assist from senior M Megan Copeland.

Sophomore D Shannon Boler also scored her first goal of the season making the Panthers 4-for-12 with shots on goal for the night. Sophomore GK Kristin Kleinow made saves on all four shots she faced improving her season record to 5-2.

Chapman (5-3 overall, 1-2 SCIAC) will host University of La Verne (3-3 overall, 1-1 SCIAC) on Saturday Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. at Wilson Field in search of their third consecutive home win.
