Cal Lutheran deals Chapman fifth straight defeat

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's soccer team dropped another tough one at home in a 2-0 'Pink Out' match against Cal Lutheran at Wilson Field on Saturday. The Panthers have fallen into a five-game slump and are now 4-8 overall and 1-7 in SCIAC.

Regals leading goal scorer senior F Raquel Weckhurst found the back of the net for the game-winning goal from 10-yards out at the 26 minute-mark in the second half to give Cal Lutheran the 1-0 lead.

Cal Lutheran than tagged on another goal in the second half when Weckhurst broke away down the right wing with the ball at the 12:53 minute mark and crossed to sophomore F Kali Youndahl who struck net and extended the Regals lead to 2-0.

The Panthers had a chance to score in the first half when Emmy Hoskins struck post from 25-yards out on a free kick at the 25:36 minute mark, but came up short.

The Regals and Panther offense went head-to-head in the first half with the Regals tallying six shots while Chapman recorded five.

Junior GK Kristin Kleinow fell to 3-7 at the net with Saturday's loss but tallied three big saves for the Panthers, including two diving saves in the first half.
