Fedden leads Panthers to 2 OT draw on Senior Day

ORANGE, CALIF. - Senior captain Haley Fedden led the Chapman University women's soccer team to a 3-3 double overtime draw with third-place Pomona-Pitzer on Senior Day Saturday at Wilson Field.

Fedden notched two goals and shattered a CU record in the Panthers last game of the season. The midfielder will graduate as the first Panther in CU history to log over 6,500 minutes on the field and now holds the CU All-Time record of most minutes played in a career.

Pomona-Pitzer (7-6-1 overall, 9-8-1 SCIAC) took an early 1-0 lead when senior Danika Bethune duked a defender less than five minutes into the first half and dribbled down the right side to score from 15 yards out.

The Sagehens then worked their way down field to strike again, when junior Alyssa Kim crossed to the middle allowing sophomore Abby Onderwyzer Gold to find the back of the net and give Pomona-Pitzer the 2-0 lead.

Trailing 2-0 fifteen minutes into the second half, Chapman junior Julia Diaz dribbled past three defenders and crossed to Lindsay Erl on the outside who scored from 10 yards out to cut down the Sagehen lead 2-1.

The Panthers then tied it up 2-2 at the 67 minute mark when Fedden headed a goal in off a free kick from junior Jessica Loya. Ten minutes later, Fedden repeated her success, heading in her second goal of the match off a corner kick from Erl to give Chapman the 3-2 lead.

However the Sagehens continued to battle, tying it up 3-3 when Behtune found the back of the net for her second goal of the match and 11th of the season with five minutes left.

Chapman and Pomona then went head-to-head in double overtime for twenty minutes but neither was able to strike the golden goal.  Now Pomona-Pitzer's SCIAC Tournament fate will be determined by the result of the Whittier College and Cal Lutheran match set for Saturday night.
