Fedden becomes first Chapman recipient of Brine Award

ORANGE, Calif. – Senior captain Haley Fedden received the Brine Award of Distinction and earned All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) first team honors, the conference office announced on Tuesday. Fedden is the first Chapman student-athlete in women's soccer program history to receive the Brine Award of Distinction.

A leader on the field and in the classroom (3.38 GPA), Fedden was a natural selection for the Brine Award. The award is a well-rounded honor that takes into account sportsmanship, community service and academic success as well as performance on the soccer field. It is voted on by the league's eight head coaches.

This marks the third time in Fedden's impressive four-year career that she has earned All-SCIAC recognition and second time being named to the First Team. The Dana Point native was also named to the NSCAA All-West Region team in her junior season.

Fedden graduates Chapman as the CU record holder for most minutes in Chapman history with 6,500-plus minutes played on the field. The captains has scored nine goals and six assists in all 80 games played at Chapman.

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference was established in 1915. The league is currently comprised of nine private colleges and universities in Southern California: California Institute of Technology, California Lutheran University, Chapman University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, University of La Verne, Occidental College, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, University of Redlands, and Whittier College. The conference recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly and annual basis.
