Chapman takes on Pomona-Pitzer in SCIAC Semifinal

  • Pomona-Pitzer (14-1-2 overall and 12-0-2 in SCIAC) is the No. 1 seed and will host the No. 4 seed Panthers (9-8-1 overall and 6-7-1 in SCIAC) in the semi-finals of the SCIAC tournament on Wed. Nov. 2.
  • Senior goalkeeper Kristin Kleinow holds the all-time record in saves for Chapman University with 312 saves over her four-year career, breaking the record in the middle of her junior year.
  • Senior Sagehen goalkeeper Corey Goelz has recorded 53 saves on the year with a .946 save percentage which ranks her number three in the nation for Division III in save percentage. She has three goals scored against and has recorded nine shutouts this season.
  • The Sagehens have won both matches between the teams this season. The Panthers are 13-14-2 all-time against Pomona-Pitzer.
  • The Panther freshmen have been an offensive force, scoring 14 of the team's 23 goals this season. Chapman has outscored its opponents 17-4 in its nine wins this season and has posted six shutouts with five of those coming in SCIAC matches.
  • The Panthers are peaking at the right time, having won four of their last six games. Chapman has far exceeded any expectations after an eight-place finish last year. The Panthers were picked sixth in a preseason poll of the conference coaches at the beginning of the year.
