Panthers advance to 3-0 on the season

ORANGE, Calif. –  The Chapman University women's soccer team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 3-0 a win over Emerson College on Sunday afternoon at Wilson Field in their season home-opener. Sophomore Jordyn Bradbury lent a hand in every goal, netting a pair and recording an assist in the win.

The Panthers opened up their 2017 season this weekend with a pair of wins in Santa Cruz, sailing to a 4-1 win over UC Santa Cruz and a 1-0 win over Whitman College.

After nearly 30 minutes of no action against the Lions, the Panthers scored the first goal of the match off a cross from sophomore Taryn Silverglate. Silverglate found a streaking Bradbury down the left side for a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, where she found the back of the net.

The Panthers opened up their second half scoring with a goal from junior Lindsay Erl in the 62nd minute. The captain, assisted by Bradbury, found the top right corner of the net for her second goal of the season.

Less than five minutes later Bradbury found the back of the net again, slotting the ball in the bottom left corner off a pass from junior Emily Holbrook.

The Panthers out-shot the Lions 25-5 and junior goalkeeper Maeve O'Connor recorded four saves against the Lions. Emerson's sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Hodge posted eight saves in the final game of its California tour.

Chapman returns home on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m. for their first SCIAC game against Pomona-Pitzer.
