Women’s soccer falls on senior day

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's soccer team fell 2-0 to the visiting Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens as seniors Lindsay Erl, Megan Kawakami and Shelby Brown played in the last match of their Chapman careers.

The Sagehens took control of possession in the first ten minutes of the match. Just over 11 minutes in, freshman Helena Robinowitz dribbled to the end line, slotting the ball back to junior Brianna Lou who just needed one touch to find the back of the net.

Eight minutes later, Pomona-Pitzer struck again. Robinowitz collected the ball just inside the 18-yard box and ripped a left-footed shot into the left side netting to put the Sagehens up 2-0.

The Panthers came out of the halftime talk fired up, rattling off five shots and forcing Sagehen goalkeeper Isa Berardo to make a couple of saves. Despite the surge in offense, Chapman Pomona-Pitzer came away with the shutout victory.

Freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Bland tallied three saves in the match. Erl, Brown and freshman Jessie Roux each put one shot on frame, forcing Berardo to make three saves.

The Panthers wrapped up their season at .500 with a 10-10 regular season record. Eight of Chapman's 11 starters are slated to return next season.
