Women's soccer stays undefeated with 1-0 win

ORANGE, Calif. – Another 1-0 shutout victory moved the Chapman University women's soccer team to 4-0 to start the season. Junior Emmie Farber scored her second goal of the season to provide the difference in the match.

Sophomore Kelsey Bland made five saves in the match to turn in her third clean sheet. She has allowed just one goal in the young season but has not allowed a goal in over 290 minutes.

Junior Anna Montemor took the ball away from Willamette's back line to start the goal sequence. Farber sprinted in support and Montemor was able to find her through the closing defenders for a 1-on-1 opportunity with the keeper. Farber fired a low shot to the far post for the goal.

Farber almost had another goal just minutes later but sent her shot over the bar. Kirsten Barclay grabbed another Farber shot in the second half to deny a goal and made one of her five saves.

Despite an identical score to the win over MIT, the Panthers played a much more even match in terms of possession. The Bearcats held the slight advantage and took 14 shots compared to Chapman's eight. However, Chapman pun six on target while the Bearcats forced Bland to make a save only five times.

The Panthers finish up their non-conference schedule at Whittier on Saturday. The two SCIAC foes will face off in their SCIAC match later in the season. Chapman is back home on Sep. 21 at 11 a.m. to take on Pomona-Pitzer.
