Holloway chosen as Chapman's nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year

ORANGE, Calif. – A perfect student, published researcher, decorated soccer player and a frontline worker against COVID-19 are just a few ways to describe recent Chapman University graduate Faith Holloway. With all that on her resume, she has been selected as Chapman's nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year.

While she compiled an impressive resume of accomplishments as a student and athlete at Chapman, Holloway has already used her experiences to make her mark post-graduation. She landed a job at Zymo Research Corporation while still at Chapman, leading research on disease treatment and diagnostics. As the COVID-19 pandemic escalated, her projects shifted into developing diagnostic tests, processing samples and manufacturing test kits.

Holloway should be a familiar name to anyone following Chapman women's soccer over the last four years. The four-year starter has earned plenty of accolades for her work at center back in her college career. She is four-time All-SCIAC selection and two-time All-Region selection.

While leaving her mark on the field, the Biological Sciences major was running through her academic career with perfect marks. She graduated with a flawless 4.0 GPA. Her combined superior performances in both aspects of her college career led to two Academic All-America selections – a rare feat.

Beyond the classroom and the soccer pitch, Holloway is already a published author. Her research on the Japanese quail under the guidance of Chapman's Dr. Patricia Lopez led her to being named a co-author on a manuscript titled, "Baseline corticosterone associated with parental care in virgin Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica)" that was published in the June 2020 issue of Hormones and Behavior.

Her published research is just the tip of the iceberg of her work at Chapman. While being a captain on the women's soccer team and doing her research in the Neuroendocrinology lab, Holloway was also a Student Scholar Ambassador, on the Schmid College Student Leadership Council and an executive board member of the business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi.

Holloway's list of accomplishments while at Chapman is lengthy. She was Chapman's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2019-20, was a Finalist for the Cheverton Award and has received numerous Campus Leadership awards through her four years.

She is one 605 nominees across all three divisions for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year award, which is the most in the award's history.

Established in 1991, the NCAA Woman of the Year award recognizes graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.
