Panthers shutout Occidental in home opener

ORANGE, Calif. - Led by sophomore All-American Liz Lewis and the nationally-ranked doubles team of Lewis and Kelley Fox, the Chapman University women's tennis team defeated visiting Occidental College 9-0 at the Chapman Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon. It was the first team win of the year for the Panthers.

Lewis and Fox, ranked No. 23 in Division III, opened up the match with an 8-6 doubles win over the Tigers' Jennifer Wahba and Krishnaveni Subbiah. Chapman (1-2) swept through the doubles matches with three wins including a convincing 8-1 win by senior Roxanne Kaiden and freshman Cassady Sirois in the No. 3 position.

Lewis, Fox and Kaiden then led the Panthers with straight sets victories in singles play. For Kaiden, it was her first win of the season, 6-4, 6-1.
