Chapman takes its lumps at expense of top teams

ORANGE, Calif. - For the third match in a row, the Chapman University women's tennis team faced a team ranked in the top-15 of Division III. And for the third match in a row the Panthers were defeated. This time, it was No. 8-ranked Carnegie Mellon University (Pa.) handing No. 30 Chapman a 7-2 loss at the Chapman Tennis Courts on Sunday.

No. 22-ranked Lewis also won her singles match, defeating Carnegie Mellon's Amanda Wu in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 1 position. Lewis is unbeaten so far this season at 5-0 and is 12-1 overall.

Also last week, the Panthers lost to No. 6 Mary Washington University (Va.) as well as West Region rival Redlands, ranked No. 14 in Division III. Chapman fell to 1-5 overall.
