Losing streak snapped with 7-2 win against Kenyon

ORANGE, Calif. -  A brief reprieve in the schedule was exactly what the Chapman University women's tennis team needed to get back to its winning ways on Monday. The Panthers defeated visiting Kenyon College (Ill.) 7-2 in an afternoon match at the Chapman Tennis Courts.

After three consecutive losses to top-15 teams, Chapman got a brief scheduling break before facing No. 25 Skidmore (N.Y.) and No. 23 Vassar (N.Y.) later this week. In between, a matchup against West Region qualifier Texas-Tyler awaits on Thursday.

On Monday it was sophomores Liz Lewis and Kelley Fox leading the way from the Nos. 1 and 2 positions in singles play. Both were straight sets winners with Lewis winning for the sixth straight match and Fox snapping her own three-match skid. In doubles, the No. 23-ranked pair won for the fourth time in their past six matches, defeating Kenyon's Alexis Marino and Prita Kidder by a score of 8-3.

Other singles winners for Chapman (2-5) were junior Manon Pochet, sophomore Sheehan Trippel and freshman Cassady Sirois.
