Women stay hot with second straight shutout

ORANGE, Calif. - The Chapman University women's tennis team earned its season-best fourth straight victory and won for the seventh time in its past eight matches with a 9-0 win over visiting Whittier College on Saturday afternoon at the Chapman Tennis Courts.

The Panthers got pushed to the brink of defeat in a couple of singles matches, but they earned back-to-back shutouts for the first time this year, as well.

Sophomore Sheehan Trippel - playing from the No. 1 singles position for the first time this season - rallied from a first set 6-7 heartbreak to win the second set 7-5 and the third 10-6. Trippel won her second straight match and improved to 6-8 overall this season. Prior to her singles win, the sophomore and doubles partner senior Roxanne Kaiden also won the No. 1 doubles match by a score of 8-3.

Freshman Katie Perryman also earned a come-from-behind win from the No. 3 position, 2-6, 6-2, (10-4) to keep the shutout alive. Perryman won in her debut singles match of the year.
