Senior tennis stars earn All-America honors, final shot at nationals

ORANGE, Calif. – It will be a fitting end for a pair of Chapman University seniors. The Panthers' All-America women's tennis players Liz Lewis and Kelley Fox have been selected once again to compete at the NCAA Division III championships. They will get one last shot at a national championship beginning May 27-29, hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in Claremont, Calif.

Lewis and Fox become ITA doubles All-Americans for the third time in their careers.

In addition, Lewis was also selected to compete in the singles championships for the fourth consecutive year, becoming the first four-time ITA All-America women's tennis player in Chapman history.

Lewis and Fox were one of 16 teams invited to compete in the doubles championships for the third straight year. The duo posted a 14-11 record in 2011 and is ranked No. 4 in the West Region heading into the tournament. They have yet to win a match at the national championships, being eliminated in the first round in both 2009 and '10. However, this year the Panthers will have the advantage of playing in Southern California.

Chapman's all-time winningest singles player, Lewis will make her fourth appearance at the national championships. She is currently ranked No. 3 in the West Region with an overall record of 14-6. She advanced to the second round at last year's championships.

Match times and pairings will be announced on May 26 at the national championship banquet in Claremont.
