Nationally ranked opponents extend Panthers' losing streak
ORANGE, Calif. - The Chapman University women's tennis team struggled to contend against two nationally ranked opponents in home contests vs. No. 21 Trinity (8-1) on Sunday and No. 10 Bowdoin (9-0) on Monday. The back-to-back losses extended the Panthers losing streak to a season-high three matches.
Sunday vs. Trinity: Trinity 8, Chapman 1
On Sunday, the squad narrowly avoided a shut-out against Trinity College, losing by a score of 8-1. In the doubles competition, sophomore Sophia Duong and senior Genna Ford earned the Panthers' only win over Trinity's Morgan Fedelman and Frances Cameron, 8-5. The pair improved to 3-3 on the season with the victory.
The Panthers struggled to build any momentum in the singles matches as Trinity swept all six singles competitions, all in straight-sets, giving them the final 8-1 victory.

Monday vs. Bowdoin: Bowdoin 9, Chapman 0
Monday saw no improvement for the Panthers as they were shutout by Bowdoin College, 9-0. Junior Kelley Klebenow held her own against Bowdoin's Emma Lewis, but came up short finishing 7-5 and 6-2. Klebenow is currently in the midst of a three game losing streak despite a strong start to the season. She remains the team leader in wins with a record of 8-6.
Each of the singles competitions were won by the Tigers in straight-sets. While Bowdoin also dominated the doubles competition, the duo of Andrea Hammer and Klebenow lost a tough battle to their opponents, 8-5.

The Panthers will resume conference play on Friday as they travel to Redlands to take on the Bulldogs at 2 p.m. Sitting in second place with a 2-1 conference record, the Panthers will play all five of their remaining matches against SCIAC opponents.
