Panthers garner two selections to All-SCIAC tennis teams

ORANGE - The Chapman University women's tennis team had two players earn All-SCIAC honors Wednesday as sophomore Andrea Hammer and junior Sophia Duong each earned spots on the second team following impressive 2014 seasons.

Hammer played in the No. 1 spot for the Panthers all year facing some of the toughest competition in the country, while recording five wins against regionally ranked opponents. Currently ranked No. 11 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll in the always competitive West Region, Hammer will be headed to compete in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis singles championships, as well as the doubles championship as she pairs with junior Rachel Fox after recording a 19-5 record in doubles competition.

Duong touted an impressive 20-4 record for the Panthers including a 9-1 record in conference play. The junior competed most of the year on the No. 3 court, but five of her wins came from the No. 2 spot. In 16 of her 20 victories, Duong won in straight sets, including two matches in which she did not drop a game.
