Men's, women's tennis teams earn ITA academic honors

Both Chapman University men’s and women’s tennis programs have earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Academic Team Award for the 2014-15 season, as announced by the ITA in July. Along with the team honors, seven Panthers (four men, three women) earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for the year.

Forty three Chapman University spring sports student-athletes have been recognized for their achievement in the classroom by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference which named its All-Academic teams by sport on this month. Leading the way for the Panthers was women’s track and field with 10 athletes honored.

Women's tennis finishes fifth in SCIAC Championships

The Chapman University women's tennis team regular season came to a close at the SCIAC Championship Tournament hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps over the weekend of May 2. Chapman (10-11 overall, 6-5 SCIAC) closed the regular season earning fifth-place in conference and fifth in the SCIAC tournament.

Duong, Saunders lead Panthers at Ojai Tournament

Senior Sophia Duong and sophomore Madeline Saunders earned singles wins and a doubles win to lead the Chapman University women’s tennis team at the 115th Annual Ojai Valley Tournament this weekend. Duong and Saunders reached the Round of 32 in singles play before being eliminated.

Tennis teams looking ahead to Ojai, SCIAC Tournaments

The Chapman men’s and women’s tennis teams dropped their regular season finales to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in 9-0 shutout losses over the weekend and now turn their attention to the 115th Annual Ojai Valley Tournament on April 23-26 before wrapping team play at the SCIAC Championships on May 1-3.

Seniors lead women's tennis to sweep in home finale

The No. 32-ranked Chapman University women’s tennis team split a pair of SCIAC matches over the weekend, falling to the nation’s No. 24-ranked University of La Verne 8-1 on Friday before shutting out Occidental College 9-0 on ‘Senior Day’ Saturday at Anaheim Hills Racquet Club.

Andrea’s Division III balance requires more than just juggling the classroom and the tennis court as her classroom is also a television studio and the news field. When she isn’t acing opponents as one of the top singles and doubles players in the West Region, you’ll often see Hammer reporting or anchoring for Chapman News – a live 30-minute news program airing locally in Orange County.

Women's tennis earns 8-1 win over Kalamazoo

The Chapman University women’s tennis team won for the fourth time in its past six matches, defeating visiting Kalamazoo College (Mich.) 8-1 at the Chapman Tennis Courts on Monday. The Panthers swept doubles and then won on five of the six singles courts to earn their most decisive win of the year.

Chapman University women’s tennis duo of senior Sophia Duong and sophomore Madeline Saunders remained hot, giving the Panthers their only point in an 8-1 loss to No. 4-ranked Amherst College at the Chapman Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon.

Doubles sweep boosts Chapman in upset win over Trinity

The No. 32-ranked Chapman University women’s tennis team scored an upset on Tuesday, defeating No. 21-ranked Trinity College 5-4 at the Chapman Tennis Courts. The Chapman women got a big lift, jumping out to a 3-0 lead after a swept in doubles competition and then won two of six in singles.

Tennis teams sweep Salisbury at home

The Chapman University men's and women's tennis team swept Salisbury University (Md.) in a dual match at the Chapman Tennis Courts on Sunday afternoon. On the men’s side, the Panthers earned their second consecutive win in a row defeating Salisbury 7-2 while the No. 31-ranked women earned their second win of the season 6-3.

No. 40 Trinity hands Panther women 7-2 defeat

The second of three home matches in three days for the Chapman University women’s tennis team didn’t fare as well as the first as the Panthers fell to No. 40-ranked Trinity University (Texas) 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon at the Chapman Tennis Courts. The No. 31 Panthers dropped to 0-3 against nationally-ranked teams so far this season.

Tennis teams sweep Rochester

The Chapman University men’s and women’s tennis teams swept a rare home doubleheader with the University of Rochester (N.Y.) at the Chapman Tennis Courts on Tuesday. The men opened with a mini upset over the No. 40 nationally-ranked Yellowjackets 5-4 and the Panthers’ No. 31-ranked women earned their first win of the year 6-3.

Mary Washington wins battle of ranked women's tennis teams

The Chapman University women's tennis team dropped its home match to visiting University of Mary Washington (Va.) 6-3 at the Chapman Tennis Courts on Wednesday afternoon. It was a battle between two nationally-ranked programs with Mary Washington ranked No. 23 and Chapman coming in at No. 31.

The Chapman University women’s tennis team dropped its season opener to visiting Brandeis University (Mass.) 7-2 at the Chapman Tennis Courts on Wednesday afternoon in a battle between two nationally-ranked teams. The No. 25-ranked Judges earned their first win of the year while handing the No. 31-ranked Panthers their first loss.
