Ogranovich wins three-setter but women's tennis falls to CNU

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's tennis team suffered a 7-2 loss to the 26th-ranked Christopher Newport Captains. The Panthers took a point in doubles and another in No. 3 singles.

Chapman fell behind in doubles but was able to salvage a point in the top doubles match. Freshmen Isabella Oedekerk and Vasilisa Trofimova outlasted the CNU duo with an 8-6 win. The Captains' No. 2 doubles team snuck away with a win in the tiebreaker to give CNU an edge.

The Captains also came out on top of a few tiebreakers in the singles matches. Oedekerk suffered a tiebreak loss in the top singles match and CNU's McKinney Harwood claimed a straight set victory with a tiebreaker win in the No. 2 match. CNU claimed in edge in the No. 5 match as well with a tiebreak win in the opening set.

Freshman Alisa Ogranovich went into a third set to claim the Panthers' second point of the match. She won 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 to improve to 4-1 on the season.

The Panthers are back on the courts of the Lastinger Tennis Center on Sunday to face Washington (Mo.) at 3 p.m.
