Women's tennis wins third in a row over Whitter
ORANGE, Calif. – The winning streak reached three as the Chapman University women's tennis team ran past Whittier 8-1 on Saturday. The Panthers (4-6, 1-1 SCIAC) did not drop a singles set in clinching the win.
After taking a 2-1 advantage in doubles, the Panthers methodically clinched the match with straight set win after straight set win. Freshman Jordan Craft won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 while junior Nicole Fouts equaled the feat with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6. Freshman Madison Ross's victory came up just shy of a shutout with a 6-1, 6-0 win.
Freshman Isabella Oedekerk won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 while fellow freshman Vasilisa Trofimova won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5. The top singles match was the tightest one of the day but ultimately freshman Alisa Ogranovich pulled out the 6-4, 6-3 win to complete the 8-1 victory.
Chapman is back at home on Monday to take on Pacific Luhteran at 1 p.m. on the courts of the Lastinger Tennis Center.
